Many of you know this has been a difficult year in the life of our Church. We are still grieving the loss of Pastor Rich Vogt who died in June. His absence has caused us to make some decisions concerning many ministry areas in our Church. While we do not want to make rash or quick decisions, we do want to make sure our ministries move forward as we begin a new year. With that background, I want to make you aware of a few changes that have taken place.
First, Pastor Ben Day will oversee all areas of Discipleship previously led by Pastor Rich. In addition to Student ministry, his new responsibilities will include overseeing our Wednesday night Bible Study, growth groups, and curriculum for all classes. Jorge Sevilla will assist Pastor Ben in the Student Ministry by working 28 hours per week as the Student Ministry Intern. Jorge will focus primarily on planning, activities, and visitation while Pastor Ben will remain the Student Pastor and teacher.
Second, I will oversee all areas of local missions previously led by Pastor Rich. This includes overseeing all ministries at College Park, Multi-Cultural Christian Center, and all other local mission ministries.
As I said before, we do not want to make rash or quick decisions in hiring a new Pastor. These are the “short term” solutions to keep us moving forward and were approved by the Administrative Council last week. I share them with you so that you will know who to contact with questions concerning discipleship or missions. At the appropriate time, we will begin the search process for a new Pastor. Until then we covet your prayers as we continue to fulfill our mission of Making a Difference in Las Vegas for the Kingdom of God.
